Emma's Glory and Sacrifice: A Testimony
Emma's Glory and Sacrifice: A Testimony is more than a biography of Emma Hale Smith wife of Mormon Church founder, Joseph Smith, Jr. It is a very personal study of their activities during their tempestuous 17 years together. Emma was with the Prophet from the time he went to the hill Cumorah to obtain the golden plates until his assassination in 1844. She was an active participant in Joseph's work of translating the record and publishing the Book of Mormon, organizing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and colonizing in the wilderness of what was then the western edge of the United States.
This book contains a mini-history of the Church and details many of the events pertaining to the restoration of the Gospel. It identifies the reason the LDS Church is a restoration and not a reformation. It recognizes Emma's unique role in the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and reveals her part in establishing temple ordinances. It contains the patriarchal blessings of Joseph and Emma, as well as many of their personal comments. It also contains the testimony of the author, who is a great-great-granddaughter.
This testimony from Emma and Joseph's family--to the family and to the world--contains much information that has not been widely available and presents many oft-told incidents in a new light. It will tug at your heart strings. It will inspire and enlighten its readers. As their descendants, we invite everyone to take a new look.
