From Latter-day Saint and non-Latter-day Saint Carter E. Grant has received commendation for his ability to make history vibrant and real to those who read his books. I Saw Another Angel Fly is a book written for young folk and is based fully on The Kingdom of God Restored, its parent edition for adults.
Of the latter book one writer commented, "Carter E. Grant, teacher in the Church seminary system for 31 years . . ., has brought the full force of his experience of what interests people as well as his vast knowledge of Church history and doctrine to the writing of The Kingdom of God Restored."
The author early became interested in history since he lived adjacent to his grandmother, Susan Noble Grant, pioneer of 1847 and wife of Jedediah M. Grant, the first mayor of Salt Lake City and Counselor to President Brigham Young.
