About Product:

In Noah's day, says the Bible, "there were giants in the land." So there were also a hundred or so years ago--spiritual giants, valiant men who had hazarded their lives for the gospel.  They preached boldly and with authority.  Many of their sermons are recorded in the Journal of Discourses.

From that 26 volume work the compiler has selected some of the strongest addresses for inclusion here.  The seven Brethern represented were all Apostles, five of them having been members of the first Quorum of the Twelve.  All were intimates of the prophet Joseph Smith and had imbibed his heaven-inspired teachings in both publice discourse and private conversation.  None were better qualified than they to expound the doctrines of the Kingdom, and it is if fact such men, as the compiler's preface indicates, who in effect laid the theological foundations of Mormonism.  That they did so in their discourses in a spirited, forthright and compelling style is a futher attraction to the modern reader.

The selections in this volume embrace topics of substance and significance in a highly readable format, size and style.  Minamal editing has eliminated comments of local or dated interest while retaining the content, flow and individual characteristics of the various speeches.  The result is a work at once informative and colorful and stamped with the impress of prophetic authority.
