About Product:
The Theme of this book is the essential equality of man and woman. The author points out, in the sight of God and in all matters wherein the highest rewards are at stake, men and woman are equal.
This is not to imply an absolute equality, because the differing roles of men and women rule that out. What the author shows as attainable and right for the LDS woman is the freedom to become, to develop her talents and abilities in all ways consistent with the gospel pattern.
To this end the author sketches woman's eternal, God-given attributes, and points out the spectrum of choices available generally to the modern LDS woman in her mortal efforts at self-fulfillment. He tells of formner traditonal and legal restrictions on women and how these barriers have now largley been removed. Nevertheless, he emphasizes, marriage and homemaking are still to be the highest priority under normal circumstances, and he therefore warns of current permissive trends which are a threat to the family. He brings scriptures and authoritative LDS comments to bear on various issues. And he discusses woman's rights and wrongs - including wrongs done by unperceptive husbands and other men.
The basic equality between man and woman which is the author's central theme is perhaps summed up in the book's last sentence: "God ordained that neither can attain the eternal heights without the other."
