In recent years the Gospel Doctrine lessons have ranged from the directly practical approach of everyday Gospel living to the 1965 course on patriarchs of Old Testament times. The Old Testament Prophets follows in logical sequence on the 1965 course. The study outlined in The Old Testament Prophets is intended to penetrate more deeply the teachings of these men of God than any study previously offered to a Gospel Doctrine class, Interpretations of the prophets' teachings are made in the light of the revealed Gospel and hence in many cases depart substantially from the interpretations of Bible scholars of other Christian denominations. The words of the Old Testament prophets, however, are timeless in their application. They were used by the Savior in His Gospel teachings during his earthly ministry and they are similarly significant in the present dispensation.
