About Product:

Experience vicariously the times and trials of the courageous men and women who lived the legend! Ivan J. Barrett weaves into this biography of Milo Andrus many fascinating details of Church History as well as insights into the political and social climate of the U.S. and, England in the 19th Century. Milo Andrus was on the cutting edge of Church history, participating in nearly every major event we are aware of. To the hundreds who knew him, the name Milo Andrus evoked feelings of respect, admiration, even awe. He exemplified the spirit of total devotion to the gospel cause.

Milo Andrus joined the Church as a teenager inspite of his father's bitter opposition. From that very day his life was centered around the cause of Zion. He made the thousand-mile march with Zion's Camp and was called to the original Quorum of the Seventy when barely into his twenties. He helped build the Kirtland Temple, then led the Florence Branch in Ohio to Caldwell County, Missouri. Later in Nauvoo he was a bishop and helped build the Nauvoo Temple. Being persecuted and driven out of these places only served to strengthen his resolve. He was in charge of outfitting and organizing many companies of Saints for the journey west and was captain of three pioneer companies going to the Salt Lake Valley.

He was totally obedient to the revelation on plural marriage. Over a period of several years, he married eleven wives and fathered fifty-seven children. He colonized Southern Utah and Idaho, constructed railroad beds and irrigation canals, and was a major in the Utah War.

Milo spent much of his life in missionary service. He served two missions in England and several in the United States. Milo's superb speaking ability justly earned him the title "The Eloquent Expounder." His whole adult life seemed to focus on preaching, teaching, sermonizing, and building the kingdom. As much as any man, Milo Andrus lived his life for what he believed. As a missionary, as a colonizer, as a husband, father, and Church leader, his industry, integrity, and spiritual strength revealed him to be a true "Trumpeter of God."
