This is a six-volume set of the history of the LDS (Mormon) Church, written by B.H. Roberts, possibly the finest scholar the Church has produced. In contrast with the more familiar History of the Church (sometimes called the Documentary History of the Church), a seven-volume set in blue cloth Elder Roberts edited from the journals of Joseph Smith, Jr. and other early church leaders, the Comprehensive History is an independently-produced work of scholarship. As such, it has a great deal of information in it that isn't found in the Documentary History. Sadly, both sets are now out-of-print. The Comprehensive History is particular is becoming much more difficult to find in complete hardbound sets.
