About the Product:

During a remarkable career as a General Authority that spanned sixty-four years, President David O. McKay took a leading role in directing the emergence of the Church from one that was basically American to one that was worldwide. He traveled farther than any other General Authority had ever traveled; oversaw construction of or planning for eight temples; and helped direct unprecedented growth in missionary activity, educational, social, and welfare programs, and the spiritual strength of the individual members.

From his travels, missionary labors, teaching, and administrative activities came many choice experiences. This new, enlarged edition of Cherished Experiences features many of his personal experiences and stories never before published in book form. Taken from diaries, newspaper articles, and speeches, the chapters tell of such heartwarming and cherished experiences as his visits with the Saints in Samoa and other islands of the Pacific, his travels in the Holy Land, and other observations from his unprecedented world tour of missions.

Youth and adult alike will find inspiration and delight in some of the stories President McKay told to reinforce gospel principles. Stories of miraculous healings and blessings that came to the Saints whom he met in numerous places bear testimony of his divine calling.

President McKay's own strong, firm testimony can be found in excerpts from talks delivered in general conference, BYU assemblies, and other gatherings of the Saints. In these excerpts he relates how his own testimony was strengthened and reaffirmed through experiences on his mission to Scotland as a young man. His final public testimony borne at general conference just weeks before his death is also found here. President McKay's life was devoted to service to the Lord, to the Church, to his family, and to his fellowman. Cherished Experiences is replete with the spiritual understanding, compassion, and knowledge so characteristic of this inspired prophet and president.
