Corker. If the name fits, wear it. And Corker does, with pride. You would think that Corker invented positive attitude and goal setting; for when she makes a decision, her course is unalter-able. At thirteen she set out to smash Steve at Ping-Pong-and she did. At seventeen she decided that Steve would invite her to the prom-and he did. But when it comes to love, the woman of steel has her problems: her love for Steve and her dislike of the "Mormon woman's role" sharply oppose her plans to go to New York and become "big time."

Meanwhile Ben, Corker's brother, has his own problems. The main one is his failure to attract the blossoming eighteen-year-old Darlene, an' avid jogger who makes even running look feminine. Fueled by humiliation at her fitness, Ben is determined to prove that he isn't a three-hundred-pound weakling-no easy task when his exercise consists mainly of lifting a fork to his mouth. Taking his cue from Corker, Ben sets a fitness goal that will put Darlene 1n her place.

A modem novel in an LDS setting, Corker reflects such contemporary dilemmas and choices as love, marriage, the Church, and self-discipline. It does this in a fun-filled mixture of people, problems, and personalities that will delight anyone who has ever been in love or hopes to be.
