About Product:

THE APOSTLE PAUL taught the Corinthians of "the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation." Recognizing that problems and adversities are a necessary part of the great plan of happiness, the author recounts moving experiences of friends and others who have come through the Refiner's fire and can attest to the loving comfort they have received. The Savior's promise to his Apostles of old clearly carries over to the faithful of today: "I will not leave you comfortless."

As strange as it may seem, many individuals react to disappointments and disasters much like Jacob did when he assumed that his son Joseph had been devoured by wild beasts. They refuse to be comforted, thus resisting the influence of the Comforter in their lives. The author discusses many ways to draw on God's love and comfort. These include making the Sabbath a safe haven for the Spirit, praying "with all the energy of heart," drinking deeply from wells of living waters, searching the scriptures for our life--script, and discovering that the temple is not only a place of sealing, but a place of healing. The atonement of Jesus Christ requires us to forgive our debtors as we have been forgiven of our debts, and forgiveness provides great comfort allowing us to enter into the rest of the Lord.

The Apostle Paul gave us an excellent reason for doing all this: The God of all comfort comforts us so that we may be able to comfort others. Elder Spencer J. Condie calls on scriptures, prophetic expressions, and personal experiences to present a book of great interest and practical value to all who would wish to be encircled in the arms of God's love.
