About Product

"I love them all terribly . . . but don't you think enough is enough?" That's Grandmother speaking, "back in the days when we were a small, lonely family of only seven or eight (hardly worth setting the table)." Thus Gordon Allred reminisces.

Now there are eleven children—at least, there were the morning this book was published, though who knows . . . ? Those children, the author indicates, have had an impact on more than just the carpeting and grocery bill. Is it heaven with eleven? Sometimes. At the other end, sometimes it's a confused scramble, as depicted in the rib-tickling chapter "Family Home Chaos." Mostly it's somewhere in between: a child who "jumps for a living"; a sharp-fanged lad who takes on a wooden railing; a campout ending with a riotous skinny dip; a little "angel" who refuses to leave church. While the author delights us with his humorous style in such scenes, he is equally adept with the serious, even poignant happenings: awaiting a baby's birth; the mission departure of one son; the worry over another son's concussion; a child's unexpected "I love you." The book is filled with fascinating family experiences expressed in the author's sparkling style.

Reading this book is to relive nostalgically one's own family experiences, whether adult or youth. Truly the book runneth over with laughter, love, and just a warm and happy spirit.
