About Product:

Religion and the Pursuit of Truth by Dr. Lowell L. Bennion shocks adults into an awareness D of some of the problems that con-front young people - and older folk, too - in their search for truth.

The author states in his Foreword: "Students of science and philosophy at universities frequently find it difficult to harmonize their newly won knowledge with the religious faith they have acquired at home and in the Church .... This brief volume is an outgrowth of a desire and an effort to help students accept both traditions as being valid and of infinite worth."

The fact that Dr. Bennion addresses himself to students provides a book that will prove valuable for parents and teachers to give students in the family. But this does not preclude the wisdom of the parents and teachers themselves reading the volume for the many truths and directions included.

Dr. Bennion indicates dramatically through the poem, "The Blind Men and the Elephant," that ''A person, in his blindness, sometimes quite innocently identifies his own view with the whole truth." The chapters on "The Search for Truth," and "Ways of Knowing the Truth" ( chapters 2 and 3 ) should be read periodically by all who would be alert and continue to grow in faith.
